Plunge off the Deep End

Yesterday Caleb and Z played Tekken 5 for like 4 hours straight. I made brownies. They weren't very good...but whatever, a bad brownie is still better than a good brusselsprout so who cares?

I didn't go to work, but I did work. I weeded the garden while Z and Caleb played croquet on the lawn, and then I went to the Greenhouse to buy a big tree to shade our backyard (Caleb doesn't think we need a tree to shade our backyard but he's wrong). There were some really big ones that were a really good deal, so I bought one. Usually trees as mature as the one I bought are around $200, but this one was less than $90, even after tax, so...as a good woman, i was like WHEE BARGAIN and made a purchase.

Then when I got back, Caleb was had started the grill and was mowing the lawn, and Z was weeding! whut! amazing. So I weeded with Z and Doctor Neighbour saw me through the fence and yelled at me to come over (he had to yell over the lawn mower). Z and I went over and listened to Dr. Neighbour talk about his garden, after which point he gave us some romaine and buttercrunch lettuce starts. best neighbour ever. then we went back to finish weeding and then I planted all the buttercrunch starts - taking a few of the baby leaves for a salad. yum!

Then I went inside to wash some dishes, and my little sister and her boyfriend came into my house and were like "what are you doin!" so I went outside and a bunch of my friends were playing croquet in my backyard. it was the best. Then I went inside again to chop up some vegetables to grill. yum yum yum. so much delicious food. and nick came inside to carve his rotisserie chicken. blech. I gave him my dishwasher-safe cutting board to use so I wouldn't have to worry about germs so much.

Then we all ate dinner of grilled burgers/chicken/veges and Nick's fresh strawberry salad and salsa with chips. and drank tea. then played a rousing game of revenge-croquet.

it was a wonderful evening.
