The first week at the new office

Back to using words like "rolodex", "word perfect", "typewriter" and "carbon copy"

Sigh. I thought I was past all this.

I've never seen so much rolodex in all my life.

Their storage of files is a ridiculously overdone process. Odd in general for males to be so organized to the point of OCD. I like order, but this process is ridiculous.

They have internet in the office, but they were all using wi-fi to connect to it. (I should be glad its not dial up at least eh?)

I grabbed a wire and hooked them straight up to the source (which is a lot faster internet) and now they think I'm a genius and worth their time and money in usefulness already.

The discoveries only get better from here, boys.

Update: April 16, 2018

Week three

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse than rolodex, WordPerfect, typewriter, carbon copy and way overdone filing and storage processes...

They throw in DOS. Dos! Like from 1980's! Offline, no mouse, separate CPU and monitor for input. They use this for their billing system. Their invoices even look like they use a dos program, or a typewriter.

I'm not sure this is worth the raise, kids.

And now to transfer that over to Quickbooks..... Wait, there is no way to transfer! It's dos!

You can usually export info from one program into another. But nooo... No transfering from DOS, we'll be starting from scratch...

Silly part is, I'm going to have to learn dos (again, I'm sure I learned this once in the 90's) in order to continue business as usual until I can get it all transferred over to QB cuz I think that'll be a long slow process.

People wonder about time machines. I think you'd be surprised just how little a distance you have to go to find yourself back in time.....

Sounds like a scene from a Coen movie.
