Feeling: irked

Its officially time to complain.

A year ago from today I was prolly bored out of my mind at this same desk and/or watching the boss run around like a chicken with his head cut off.

But today, a year later, I'm just really annoyed.

That boss cannot multi-task to save his life. Its driving me insane. He has a big ol' case coming up next week and he had to go through all the paperwork and put it in some logical order for exhibits and such to present to the judge and counsel. One day of freaking out is enough I say, esp when he has -at least- three days to freak out and get it done. But this is day two where he's just shut out the world and locked himself in his office. He can't just shut down the office for the rest of the week so he can shift through papers. He has to keep the rest of the business afloat and he has new clients that he could take on to help with the income. And I just know he's making that paperwork a lot harder than he needs to. What is the difference in shifting these papers around opposed to all the other paperwork he does normally -while- answering the phone?

And he's such a stickler on doing it all by himself and doing it right. He won't even let me help cuz I 'might mess it up'. You'd think this would be a good opportunity to be a good employee and show your skills and all that jazz right? HA! Yeah, right. Its like touch anything and you die. I feel bad making copies of paperwork and putting it on his desk giving him something else to do in his 'swamped' state, but there's no way I'm gonna try to butt in and help cuz it won't be 'perfect' or 'right' for him and it'll just give him more to do. Story of my life. So I just shopped for Christmas online while he stewed, nothing else for me to do.

He refuses phone calls ...every other phone call... which really starts to bug me. I mean, sure I get it, leave me alone for -a while-, but I can't hold them off til next week esp when yer still in the office! Take a break and answer the damn phone! I'd leave him alone for like 30 minutes and then the phone rings and I tell him who it is and ask if he wants to take the call and he'll take every other one. And then I'll shoo someone away during one of those 30 minute 'leave me alone' time periods and find out he wanted to talk to that person. Oy. Why don't you give me a list of names that you are willing to talk to... These are simple ppl with simple questions. You just need to pull yer head out of the moment for a bit, answer the question politely and then go back to what you were doing. Its not that hard. Its a major part of social skills. And despite what he fears about talking for long periods of time, he -can- change that if he puts in the effert.

He complains that he doesn't understand all the paperwork he's putting together cuz the client gave it all to him. She's been giving him stuff for like a month now and he's just asking what all of it means now? Well, obviously he gets enough to carry out a case with it, but if you had questions why didn't you ask/figger it out when you got it faxed to you a month ago? And you know he's charging an arm and a leg for the days he's been locked up pouring unnecessarily over this paperwork. But that I kinda have to agree that these clients deserve it. They don't listen to their counsel so they have to take the harder/longer way around the pole so it does cost more.

Yesterday I was doing the bills and he was trying to do bills AND freak out about this case coming up. I don't know why the issue started up that day. I'm sure it could've waited a few hours til the bills were finished, but nooo, he had to start freaking out then. While I was doing the bills I was setting up a settlement. A company wanted to come and pay their dues to our client so I did the paperwork and set up the deal, "I'll give you a Satisfaction of Judgment if you give me a check paying off the debt in full." Simple, right? ....Not when Jim's wheels start spinning unnecessarily.

Anyway the guy from the company came to give us a check and I was attempting to get Jim to sign the Satisfaction. Jim decided he wanted two originals cuz he wanted to make sure it got to the court himself. Anyways, the guy commented that the boss seemed like a grouchy old man. Hah, oh no, just today is special. I told him we were just swamped trying to get a lot done today as I pointed to my pile of paperwork on my desk. Maybe I should stop making excuses and just simply say "yes, yes he is. He is a grouch." And he continued to be nice to me cuz I tried to make peace with him despite the boss' grouchiness. It was a simple deal, Jim didn't need to holler, he didn't need to make it complicated, he didn't need to have that 'I'll do it myself' moment, he didn't have to seem to grouchie. Just a guy paying his bills. All of this juss because Jim cant think about two things at once. Oy. But I was very nice and helpful to the guy.

I'm not sure there is a good reason we need to impress this man we were suing, but I don't see a reason to make him hate us either. Jim has this habit of making unnecessary enemies before making friends and one day he's gonna need one of those enemies on his side in order to gain his favorite thing, money. But because he's so quick to judge he'll get no help. He has this tone and obvious impatience with people like they crossed him simply cuz he's thinking about something else, they get the wrong impression and slowly dislike the angry impatient man. Who knew. He has this "I dont need you" attitude when he assumes something negative from a person and throws them out the window before he learns there was a misunderstanding. Quick to judge is soo a pet peeve of mine.

When he has constipation with his thinking process he starts to say those Captain Obvious statements to. Another annoyance that comes around once in awhile. "We need to email and mail this to him, so if you could send this to him by email and snail mail that would be good" ..... "No, I was just gonna throw it away and hope it got to him that way." Or he'll make up things that don't exist "You'll need to put the book and page number to that recording"... and when I don't cuz it doesn't have a book or page number listed and he asks why I didn't then I simply say "You tell me the book/page number and I'll add it in". "Could you answer the phone?" "Nooo, thats not my job here, I was just gonna let it ring, its not like you'll take the call anyway!"

So ironically, that case he was just setting up for trial next week just got bumped til January. hah. After he spent all that time the past two days, again, as I said unnecessarily... and now it got transferred to a brand new judge who isn't going to take office til January. Oiy. Shoot me now.
