Feeling: abandoned

Together they share

the laughter, the curiousity,

the listening, the learning,

the engaging, the jokes,

the smiles, the attention.

That is not the man I knew

When the door was closed

I see it now, open, all in front my eyes

But I know it will fade

The facade continues

Someone new to meet

Someone new to share with

Someone new to listen to

Someone new to be interested in

It all begins when the door opens

That is not the man I knew

When the door was closed

The appearance, the promptness

The interest in others, the offer of help

The sympathy, the empathy, the compassion,

The same show every day

That is not the man I knew

When the door was closed

My eyes play tricks on me

My heart feels heavy

And I feel sick

How can I feel replaced when I wasn't even there in his eyes in the first place?

Daddy, I'm over here!

When the door is closed... and when it's open. I'm always here!

Be interested in me, play with me, listen to me,

Sympathize with me, joke with me,

Engage in conversation with me, laugh with ME!

I see what you do and what you don't do

I know you're not the same

I see more than they do

Are they more your family than we are?

Am I just a passerby?

That is not the man I knew

When the door was closed.

LOVE, ME!

"She's just somebodys daughter just looking for somebody to love her"
