426 - Glimpses

I have nothing profound to say lately... So I'll just quote someone else.... Glimpses into the life and heart of Marjorie Pay Hinckley: "I have seen too much to ever deny it" "When the going gets tough The tough get going." "Brothers and sisters, Joseph Smith either had a vision or he didn't." "No well integrated life is possible without self-acceptance" "I, John Smith, hereby accept myself with my inherited endowments and the elements in my environment that I can not control, and I will now see what I can do with this John Smith." "I have given you life. That is probably I will ever be able to give you. Now you stop complaining and do something with it." "Find out what you love to do, what you can do best, and do it. Each man has his own special powers, each man can do at least one thing a little better than millions of other men." "All about us. We see dissatisfaction - people wishing they were someone else, had someone else's abilities." -Sydney J. Harris "We too must keep our priorities straight and our identity intact when the multitudes are not present." -Virginia Pearce Motherhood: "Have joy in your children. Have joy in your mothering." "You can't teach children to be good. The best you can do for your child is to live a good life yourself. What a parent knows and believes, the child will lean on." -Bruno Bettelheim "Just save the relationship" "The trouble with the world and the trouble with you and me is that we don't love each other enough. And if we do, we don't bother to show it, or we don't bother to say it." In regards to appreciating what parents do for you: "And you had better appreciate it, because no one will ever love you as much. Your husband will love you, your wife will love you, but let me disillusion you right now - it will not be the way your mother and father love you. Theirs is as close to an unselfish love as we know on this earth." "Unless you can learn to live with your parents in love and kindness and respect and helpfulness, pity the person who marries you." "But most of all, in that neighborhood, there was love. And it was a love we didn't have to talk about; it was just there." "We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove anything, to be what we are." "Do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, with a cheerful heart." Pres. Hinckley: "I think you should know that I only have $150 to my name." Sister Hinckley thought: "I had hoped for a husband and now I was getting $150 too!" "Hello, I know you and I love you." "We love it. We love what we're doing. I wouldn't change a thing. Not a thing." "I'm loving every minute of it!" "It was worth every minute to be with the members and missionaries." "Dear Cede, Tomorrow you will be starting out to conquer a new world. Tuck this $5.00 in your pocket. You may need a bottle of glue to keep yourself together, or to keep your smile glued on. Good luck! We are so proud of you! Love, Grams" "Expect the worst, and if it doesn't happen, you'll be pleasantly surprised!" Regarding the hospital visit: "I knew she was trying to help me. With some of the others I had serious doubts." "Appreciation unexpressed is not appreciation." If you can't find someone to say thank you to for something, just take a look at your toothbrush and say, 'Thank you for being. You are a wonderful little gadget.' "I am indeed grateful that there have been a few times in my life that I have had to depend entirely on the Lord for my well-being and comfort." "I know that where much is given, much is expected. And that is a frightening thought." "So, time is running out, but you still have your life ahead of you. For me, time is running out - period."
