Baby Snowfall?

What a wonderful weekend! Jackie and Tim's baby shower was Saturday night and what a night it was! The turn-out was about 70 people, and everyone had a good time eating delicious food, drinking a few cocktails, and talking with friends and the parents-to-be! Mom kept saying how nice it was to have the catering company and Jon the photographer there so she didn't have to stress out about anything and could relax and enjoy herself. Of course, she was ready to go with candles lit and ambiance music playing at 3 with guests not set to arrive to for another 3 hours...Kris and I changed the channel and watched part of a movie. :D Anyway, with the flowers (such beautiful roses!) and the candles, it really was a beautiful party. Today was a very strange day for our part of the country. I woke up to the sound of pouring rain (and Kris frantically trying to get ready for Church since he slept past his alarm). Jackie came over mid-morning to open presents and we took our time before getting to them; ate a little snacky, chit-chatted, and when we finally sat down to get started, Kris came through the front door and said it was snowing. Snowing?! We race to the patio and sure enough, snow! So we stepped outside and giggled over the marvel of having snow in the desert! Mom got out her camera and snapped a few photos of us shivering and laughing in awe. It was so peculiar! Lots of good gifts for baby Mackenzie! A lot of them were left at our house since Jackie and Tim are moving soon. Mom is so thrilled to have the space to accommodate extra bags and boxes without them being in the way. And, now in the guest bedroom, a place for Kenzie to sleep! (So I'll be the first to hear her cries in the middle of the night.) Somewhere in the middle of unwrapping presents, Tim came over, the sun came out, and we all took a break to snack again. At the end of presents and close to a very early dinner, it began to hail. And then it really hailed! And outside the windows we watched little patches of white build up around the walls of houses, rocks, and behind cacti. Unbelievable! We saw every form of precipitation in one day! After an early dinner of left-overs from the party, mom, Jackie, and Kris and me snuggled into my parents bed to watch a movie and nap while dad, Tim, and grandma watched the football game. It was a very nice and very odd afternoon. Anyway, darkness came and then it was time to pack up and return to campus. No biggie, I guess. Unfortunately some unexpected homework has kept me up till 12, but oh well; it's done and now I'm ahead of the game. I just hope I can keep it up all semester long. But most of all, I'm jumping out of my skin with excitement for my future niece to be born! I'm going to read her stories and dress her up and take her picture and take her to the zoo and teach her French and what very little Spanish I know (Uncle Kris will help) and play with her and feed her and show her off to all my friends and make projects with her and...
