Opening Night

Tonight felt like the opening scene to "Finding Neverland" when James is behind the curtain of his own opening night, tapping his cane nervously on the carpet and peaking out into the audience. I was so worried what the audience reaction might be. So, how did it go? Well, if you ask the audience it went well--except for the horrible set changes and delayed lighting. Ask me and I'll tell you it was terrible. The acting was fine, except when Lady B and Oscar came out a scene too early and Oscar lated missed his cue...the set changes were dreadful, lighting was off, and communication was like speaking in forgeign languages--nobody was listening or responding. However, I'm perfectly okay with the fact that I think it sucked. I knew it would. I spent most of the show in the light booth, pulling out my hear and spitting directions through my teeth. But it was alright. The over-all reaction from the audience was fantastic. Townsend and Tim are already talking about taking this to the next level. "After a bit of editing," I said. Tomorrow, since tech won't have to worry about building things (except doors...damn) we're running all the set changes and cues to make sure everyone knows what they're doing this time. It should be muuuuuuch better. Carrie
