to the door

We had a bit of a fright today. We had planned to visit my grandparents today but after church, mom and I discovered that gram was going to the hospital. So we waited a bit and then went to see her. After hours in the ER, she was finally admitted, which made my aunt very relieved. Gram has been suffering a lot of pain in her arm and has been dehydrated, completely unable to eat or keep down the food that she does eat. Anyway, there was a period when we didn't think she was going to make it but by the end of the night, after some fluids got in her system and a dose of morphine, she was looking much, much better. We spent all day in the hospital, just waiting around with her. She's staying over night and the doctors are going to do more tests--she's got a lump on her lower neck or spine or someplace--and basically just find out what's going on with her so they can give her medicine to ease any pain she's having. Exactly how much longer she is going to last, we don't know. Matt and I both agree that it has come down to a simple decision on her part; she's old and tired, and it's really up to her now how long she wants to hold on.

my thoughts and prayers are with your family through this, i think you have a good point of view going into, however its never easy, and always painful, if you need anything even just an ear to listen im here for you. I hope things work out for the best for your grandmother.

I miss my grandma, and it was the same with her. Eventually she just got tired and decided it was pretty much her time to go.
