[61.] Easy to forget.

Brian walked confidently to the police station, confronting the sheriff. “Hello.” Brian simply said. “I have something of your interest.” He continued. The sheriff looked up at Brian in a skeptical manner, “That would be?” Brian’s arms lifted a large box of heavy videotapes. “There’s an anonymous tip for ya, buddy.” “Excuse me, sir, you cannot just leave…” But Brian was already gone, leaving Shawn’s evidence of his life behind. There was a pounding on Brian’s door, as he opened it; he confronted an angry Shawn, who immediately forced himself in. He screamed, “You mother fucker.” His voice loud, but sounding low. “Shawn! My dearest friend, how are you this evening?” “The police are looking for me; I’m all over the fuckin’ news. What the fuck is wrong with you?! You’re just as guilty as I am.” “Oh that. Yeah, I sent your videotapes in to the police.” Brian replied casually but deviously. Shawn grabbed Brian’s collar and smashed him against the wall, away from him. “How could you do this to me?” Brian’s reaction was simple and undisturbed. “You didn’t film the last one.” Shawn said “What?” so low; he couldn’t hear himself saying it. “Yeah. That’s right. That’s what this was all about. You’d ruin me if you didn’t turn it in. So I turned you in.” He smiled. “You’re such a dumbshit, Brian, you were the leader of this, and I had no choice.” Brian began laughing. He laughed until his body was bent over, holding the side of a shelf to keep from falling down in hilarity. Shawn stared at him, bewildered, he felt his anger rise endlessly. Brian reached for the shelf, opening it, laughing even harder, as it turned into an evil giggle. He pulled out a gun, and pointed it to Shawn. He stopped laughing, forcibly as he cocked the shiny black gun. Shawn’s breath stopped as he stared at his reflection in the gun. “Don’t do it.” Shawn commanded. Brian stifled a laugh, as Shawn closed his eyes. Nothing would stop him now. Shawn heard the gun fire, and his heart paused. He opened his eyes, to confront Brian, dead on the floor.
