[46.] I don't even miss you at all.

Shawn’s eyes forced themselves open to confront the reality of his tattered body in a hospital bed. The first he saw was the light gray walls, and the window closed. It must have been late at night. Jamie was at his bedside, sleeping. She must have been there for hours. Shawn caressed her hair and immediately, she awoke. Her eyes were red, as if she had been crying for years. Her makeup wasn’t even on anymore. Shawn kept wondering where he was, trying to retrace everything that happened. But everything was so distant, he couldn’t reach it. “Oh my god, Shawn…” Jamie grabbed him, hugging him as tight as possible without suffocating him, disregarding the fact that he had just came out of a terrible car accident. “Jamie… I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have yelled at you. I’m a jackass… I’m such a-” Jamie’s fingers touched Shawn’s lips as she whispered “Shh, shh…” And she kissed him deeply, crying at the same time. Shawn moved aside and let her lay next to him. He felt his body ache as he moved, oblivious to what happened. “Shawn, I’m so sorry. This is my entire fault… if I wasn’t so stupid and dramatic, you wouldn’t be here.” Shawn didn’t look in her eyes as he heard her say those words. A nurse walked in just then, wearing blue nurse attire. She walked over to Shawn’s bedside. “Well about time you woke up, handsome.” Shawn smiled awkwardly. “How long have I been asleep? Three hours?” The nurse looked to Jamie, then back at Shawn. Jamie’s eyes fell to her hands. “More like three months.” “What?” “You’ve been in a coma.” The nurse said, expecting him to have figured that out. “How? What the hell… what happened to me?” Jamie sighed, her eyes watering once again. The nurse didn’t answer; she simply walked out, clearly not being able to handle the pressure. Shawn looked to Jamie, who had been fiddling with her fingers, her head down. “There was a car accident.” Then, as if she had said the magic words, everything from that night flashed before him, recreating the entire scene perfectly. His flashback lasted right before he saw himself crash into a pole, then the rest was gone.
