[38.] The days that mattered.

Nathan went back into the off-white painted house, casually, leaving Shawn and Jamie laying on the grass. As it was clearly darkening, Shawn’s eyelids kept cascading down over his eyes. Jamie turned over on her stomach, her body feeling the warm area of the grass she laid on. Jamie’s eyes scanned over Shawn. He was unaware of her unusual staring, which made him look even more attractive. After a considerable amount of time, Shawn turned to Jamie, and their eyes locked tightly, Jamie breaking it with laughter. She came up and sat upright on Shawn’s waist. Shawn faked-groaned, pretending her body weight was larger than an elephant’s. “Jamie! Lose some weight! You’re soooo heavy!” Jamie smacked his arm, “Shut up, what are you talking about? I’m not fat. I’m only like, 115 pounds!” Shawn laughed aloud, loving the way she loved herself. He despised the other girls that constantly grumbled at their “fat” when they weighed less than average seven year olds. “I know. And you’re gorgeous.” He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her down, finding her lips and letting their tongues meet and speak to each other. After a second of intimacy, Shawn grabbed Jamie’s waist and stood up, lifting her up with him, holding her securely below her breasts. He ran with her and spun around, hearing her screams and giggles in his ears as she wrapped her legs around him. Shawn walked slowly and teasingly to the edge of the pool, the lights from the water illuminated at his feet. Jamie looked down at the glowing water, knowing the position she was in. She tightened her grip of her arms around his neck and confidently said, “Shawny, you know that when you throw me in there, you’re going in, too.” She held on tightly. “I know.” Shawn replied with equal fearlessness. Shawn’s grip around Jamie immediately loosened as he easily pushed her body away from his and threw her into the glistening body of water. Shawn waited for Jamie’s face to surface and when she did, he did nothing but burst with snickers. Jamie’s mouth was open in shock at what he had done. Immediately she slid out of the pool and charged at Shawn, pushing him as hard as she could, trying to thrust him into the swimming hole. When she failed, she lunged at his waist, tickling him insanely as he danced his way into the water, ridiculously. Jamie waited at the edge of the pool, hands on hips, all her weight on one leg, waiting to view the expression on Shawn’s face. Shawn never surfaced. Jamie looked around the pool, the bubbles had cleared, and the water was still, with no sign of Shawn. Before she could yell his name, Shawn appeared, half his body in the water, jumped up, and grabbed her legs. Jamie and the water clashed together and finally, they both gave up and swam to each other. Once Shawn got close enough, he immediately splashed her with water, as did she. They shrieked and giggled, the water accumulating their faces, letting all the colors of the world sparkle in one droplet on their cheeks. Shawn suddenly gave up, stopping, letting confusion set into Jamie’s face. As sure as he planned, she asked “What is it?” “Come here,” he coaxed. ”What?” She smiled, ready for anything. Shawn reached his hand up, moving her long hair off her left shoulder. Jamie’s body coveted with bumps of cold with his touch. It was the same feeling each time. He leaned in and kissed her neck, at first lightly, then deeply and he began to exhale as he kissed her lips. Jamie’s hands cupped his elbows and Shawn’s hands found their place on Jamie’s cheeks. Shawn had planned to splash her as a joke, but he couldn’t bring himself to rip himself away from her lips. Suddenly, their faces pulled away by force of Jamie. She locked her eyes with his for approximately one second and splashed Shawn, chuckling. “Hahah, beat you to it.” She smiled, reading his mind. As always.
