Shawn awakened to Jamie’s face, smooth, and delicate. “Jamie…” He whispered, smoothing her wet cheeks, which were drenched because of the midnight rain. Jamie tried to say something, but she just smiled. “Hey, love.” Her voice was flowing, as if she had no more tears to cry. Her body was kneeled against his bed, as they waited for the words to come in silence. “I knew it wasn’t an accident.” Were the only words that seemed to come out of Jamie’s lips. “Jamie, I’m sorry, there’s just so much you don’t know…” “Shh…” She silenced him, and then began, “I’m sorry I yelled at you, I’m sorry I ran. I’m a coward.” Shawn immediately grabbed her, he embraced her as tightly as space would allow. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” He whispered in her ear. Her arms were still around him as she replied with “You know I’d die for you, right?” Shawn smoothed Jamie’s hair out of her face, “You wouldn’t have to.”
