Thriller in Diller

Time: 10:36 AM Before I talk about my oh-so-fun weekend, let me tell you about this dream I had last night. I dreamed that Beth rear-ended me! I was driving our mini-van, who knows why, and she was driving a station wagon. It was weird. Even weirder was that I was driving from the back seat! I think I was trying to slow down because I was going 60 in a 45, driving from the backseat makes you speedy I guess. And when I started braking, Beth ran into me! Pretty freaky, huh? Also, her brother Kyle was in her car too and when he got out, he had on a white baseball hat and a goatee, which is weird, because he's only 16 and I've never seen him with a hat on. OK, sorry, guys, that's all I can write for now, my grandma needs to use the phone and at her house, they don't have DSL or a seperate line or anything. At least they are at the height of technology with their computer though. :) Part 2 Time: 11:31 AM Got the internet back. :) So anyways, this weekend, my mom, two of her friends, and I came down to Diller, where my grandparents live, for the 107th Annual Diller Picnic. We got here yesterday (Saturday) a little after noon. At 3, we went and watched the draft horse pull, kind of like a tractor pull with big draft horses. It was interesting after the first hour because during the first hour or so, the horses could easily pull the weight. No, this isn't cruel labor or anything, the horses love it. As soon as they even think they are hooked up to the sled, they take off. It's really a challenge to hold back this two huge horses. It was super fun except for the fact that I got sunburned. I put sunblock on my face only so it was to be expected. But it's funny because the way the sun was shining on me, half of my left leg is burnt and my left arm is too. Only it's not like the top half or the bottom half of my leg, it's the left half. Quite painful, really. Anyways, after the draft horse pull, we came back to my grandparents' farm and cleaned up a little (somewhat sweaty and what not), grabbed some lawn chairs and then headed back into Diller. We set up the lawn chairs at the beginning of the parade route and then went and got some yummy barbeque chicken for dinner. Then we watched the parade, which consists of 70 or so participants parading down Main Street, which is a whooping four blocks. After the parade, we walked over to the park and watched a hypnotist there. It was funny but not as good as ones at post prom. The best part though was when Cute Guy John Patrick came and sat next to me and talked to me. Actually, I think all I said in return was "uh. . . .uh . . . .uh" becasue I'm so cool and articulate. He would never know I have an SAT vocabulary. But anyways, then the show ended and I said good bye to Cute Guy John Patrick. That's what I called him in my head, that's his title that I gave him. His name was just plain John Patrick, but it sounds much better as Cute Guy John Patrick, doesn't it?!? So after the hypnotist and C.G.J.P., we headed over to the midway to play bingo. We sit down, buy our cards for 25 cents and jump right in. The American Legion puts on Bingo, and if you win, you get half the profits. So there's 100 people playing since it's the busy time of the night and that's how many cards there are. Winnings are therefore $12.50. So we start playing our first game and guess who makes some money? Me! I won with four corners! Then I was like, might as well just keep playing a couple more games for the fun of it, even though I didn't trade in cards so I was still playing on my one card. We play two more games and then I'm like, well, one more game and then I'll watch since I'd be out of quarters and didn't want to break a one, sounds dumb, right. Well, then I win, straight down the N row. So I one half the games I played (2 out of 4) and win $24 in total. It was a good night so I knew to stop when I was ahead. Then we went over and stood in a neverending funnel cake line for what seemed like an hour and was probably close to one. I actually got out of line (my mom and her friends were still standing there), went and got a hot dog and ate it and only one person had gotten a funnel cake. It was a very slow line!! Finally, we got our funnel cakes, ate them, and then decided to head back to the farm for the night. It was a good day altogether. :) Now we are going to Rock Creek Station or the Homestead National Monument before heading home.
