Feeling: disgusted
Okay. I know im fourteen but ive been thiknig this out for a while. i decidied i should write an editoral on the subject, so here goes. Life, liberty and the persuit of happiness were the three promises that our founding fathers built this country on. Since when has this been changed to, Life, liberty and the persuit of happiness unless your husband wants you dead? I do not hwo this "great nation" of america can sit by and let a woman slowly succumb to starvation; and slow, and painful death. All because her careless, attention-seeking drama king of a 'husband' won't turn over guardianship to her parents. And, when the government can intervene (i undertsand it was unconstutional to pass the bill) by turning guardianship to the state they don't. I don't understand. We would consider it a crime to starve a domestic animal to death, so why don't we comsider it a crime to let a woman who has been known to be responsive and is not on life support be deprived of life sustaining water that is not at all considered a luxury to most americans? Why are we relying on the technology of 15 years ago to tell us that she has no brain activity? There have been so many advances in medical science, that i believe they should at least give it a chance. It's times like these when i become completely disgusted. I mean, seriously. Terri is a human as well; and has commited no crime to be stripped of her rights as a human. However the people involoved in this, who really do not care, ie micheal shiavo, the supreme court, will sit around long enough untill she passes on and it will no longer be a bother to them once more. I hope when every one of the people who voted for her to be slowly murdered see her face every night before they close their eyes and i hope she haunts their dreams. Terri Shiavo is dying in vain. There is no 100 percent absolute proof that she is not in there. How do we know that, untill the point when she was so deprived that she succumbed to the dark state of unconsiousness; which at this point was probobly a sweet relief to her; she was not screaming inside of her head, 'i want to live! i want to live! Micheal, why are you doing this? I want to live!' We have no way of distinguishing that. Even the dregs of soceity; rapists and murders get shadow of a doubt. Heartache will be felt all across america and greif and suffering will be inflcited upon her parents and all those who loved her, and if i have to blame someone i will blame Micheal Shiavo for being to self-centered to sign a peice of paper to save his wife's life. He is clearly motivated by money. It will be a sad day in america when Terri passes on because her death will have prooved that murder can be legal.

Hi =)

Those are some really good thoughts for a 14 year old... but there is no longer any hope of the lady waking up. This is not based on what the doctor said 15 years ago, but what the doctors of today said. Her brainstem has completely disintegrated: any responses she displays is purely reflex. Her brain has stopped working. She's not trapped in her body, she's just not in there anymore. Her husband held on until the end. This isn't murder.
