yesterday, i was ringing up two girls. one of these girls seemed perfectly normal.

"you two together?" i always ask when two people share casual conversation.

"yup." they usually reply.

i happened to glance down at the feet of the second girl; she was wearing flipflops. i noticed that two toes on each foot were not separated. they'd either grown together or never grown apart. it wasn't exactly freaking me out but i'd never seen anything like that.

regardless, i didn't stutter or change my tone at all, surprisingly. i just handed her someodd change and gave her the receipt.
