Well I went back and go dandy today...early and brought him up to our house. I think he's home sick or just misses his mommy...lol...I spent all afternoon and evening with him. We mainly road in the field though. He after a while calmed down...his trot came light, his canter felt like i was flying...He wanted to canter up the hill so I let him...lol he gave a playful buck on the way. I worked him on transitions and collection. I also done one rein stops...mainly cuz he wouldn't stop, i think he was just overly excited that he was with me for that long!! LOL....poor guy, didn't think he really missed me that much...guess he loves me more then i thought... |

Well I went down and got Dandy out. I'm giving him the day off. He's been working good lately. He kept limping off and on yesterday so I he'll get a break today. He is absolutely filthy!!! He has manuer stains all over him. grr! does no good to give him a bath LOL. |

Well I worked Dandy today! It was freakin hot out to. Him and I both were gettin tired. I done one rein stops with him twice today. Once around noonish and then this evening. He was sweaty when I put him in tonight so I rub him down with cool water. He always enjoys it. LOL...He usually hangs his head low and dozes while I brush the water into his hair. I gave him a bath today. I got piccies of him before he got all muddy and dirty! Woohoo on that part. He didn't like the bath to well which he shoulda since it was so hot out.
He still has problems bending his neck to the left for the left one rein stop. I think he may have thrush again. I need to take my hoof pick down to dianes so i can clean them out before I take off. I keep meaning to bring the camera with me to get piccies. oh well I will one of these days. I think tomorrow, if i get up early enough, i'll work dandy on the one rein stop, collection, and transitions...and do some hill work. He needs to lose some of his fat....and gain some muscle! LOL. Anyways...I've been working on a loose rein...he's doing good for some reason kinda scares me LOL....he never use to behave on a loose rein for me. Oh well not going to complain or anything...now he'll be a total ass since i said he was being good....LOL! My mom made some fly spray for him. that bronco crap doesn't work at all! so she made some homemade stuff. :) its works pretty good.
Reciepe:
1 part vinegar
1 partwater
some dish soap.
he definately doesnt like the smell but oh well if it works thats the main thing. I think i'm going to ask diane if i can use her trotting poles to lay on the ground and walk him over and stuff. give us something new to work on. well thats all for now. |

One Rein Stops |

Well I worked on one rein stops today. He done good. When I pull his head to the right for that part he stops immediatly and doesn't go around in a circle a few times. On the left one though he will circle at least once before settling down. Once we got that past I walked him and done one rein stops on each side a few times. Then I done a few during trotting. He's getting better at it. I think thats one of the things i'll work on tomorrow. |
